Charles passed away peacefully at the Riverwalk Village Memory Care Ward in Noblesville, Indiana, on March 30, 2018. A special thank you to all his caregivers who cared for him with dignity and respect. Charles suffered from Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia.
Charles was born to John Roy and Leona Belew on October 4, 1937, in Los Angeles California. Charles is survived by Bobbie Belew his wife of 23 years. Together Charles and Bobbie have 7 children: (daughter) Virginia and husband Dan Larsen, (daughter) Josie Judd, (daughter) Cheryl and husband Russel Cunningham, (son) Charles Jr. and wife Marci Belew, (step-son) Hal LaPonsie, (step-daughter) Desiree LaPonsie and (Step-son) John and wife Jenny LaPonsie. Charles was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Charles was the first born of seven children. He is survived by: Robert, Richard, John, Tom, Dorene and Howard.
Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 23, as a Carpenter. He completed his high school education and received a college education during his time in the military. Charles served 20 years for our Nation, which included, 4 combat tours and countless other deployments. After retiring from active duty he moved to Alaska and served 12 years at Elmendorf Air Force Base as a Civil Service Building Inspector. Once retiring from Civil Service Charles and Bobbie moved to Yellville Arkansas, and later moved to Westfield Indiana.
Charles’ priorities were simple; God, Family, and Country. He made friends and was met with smiles everywhere he went. He was a devout Christian and is now at rest until his Heavenly Father returns.
Charles will receive a Military Honor Graveside Service at the Marion National Cemetery, in Marion, Indiana on April 19, 2018 at 2PM.
